Château de la Soujeole: ecological transmission of a family heritage

Château de la Soujeole : transmission écologique d’un héritage familial

Château la Soujeole: Fullness

Located not far from the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Château de la Soujeole benefits from an extraordinary location. The atypical and confidential terroir of Malepère benefits from both Mediterranean influences and oceanic influences from the west.

The beauty and purity of the place convinced Gérard Bertrand in 2013 to cultivate the vines according to the principles of Biodynamics: respect for nature and the life of the soil, no use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, etc.

In order to find the perfect balance between the mineral, plant and animal world, the plots are cultivated and plowed using the mule. Animal traction, unlike mechanical traction, allows the soil not to be compacted, thus allowing it to breathe, for a richer soil life!

This extraordinary terroir that is the Malepère appellation is ideal for growing oceanic grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec, the three grape varieties that make up the Château de la Soujeole Grand Vin Rouge.
